Bitcoin whitepaper removed from website

A few years ago, Wright sued Bitcoin.org claiming ownership of the technical document, also known as the “whitepaper” named. The whitepaper is a nine-page report that explains how bitcoin works.

Last Thursday, Bitcoin.org administrator Hennadii Stepanov shared a link to the Bitcoin whitepaper on X. Stepanov’s action followed a reversal of Wright’s temporary victory and a series of protests from the Bitcoin community.

The whitepaper was published in 2008 by Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous developer of bitcoin. In the whitepaper, Nakamoto describes the technology behind bitcoin, including how it is created, how transactions are verified, and how the coin is stored securely.

Importance of the document

The importance of the white paper is twofold. First, it is a technical document that is essential for understanding how bitcoin works. Without the whitepaper, it would be difficult, if not impossible, for many people to use or develop bitcoin.

Secondly, the whitepaper is a historical document that marks the beginning of the Bitcoin revolution. It is a snapshot of Nakamoto’s vision for a new monetary system and it has inspired millions of people around the world.

Bitcoin.org’s decision to… whitepaper reuploading is a win for the bitcoin community. It is an affirmation of the fact that Bitcoin is an open and decentralized project, and that no one has control over the technology or its history.
