In India, polls place Narendra Modi well ahead of the elections

“Twelve exit polls point to a landslide victory for the NDA coalition led by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP),” reports the Indian television channel NDTV. Indeed, most polls give the Hindu nationalist leader a majority at least as overwhelming as the one he obtained in 2019, with 353 deputies out of the 545 making up the lower house of Parliament. However NDTV shows a certain prudence, warning its readers, in order to preserve “their health”, that exit polls “are not always accurate”.
