Renewed tension between Niger and Benin: towards a “pipeline war”?

Tension rose further between Niamey and Porto-Novo, after five Nigeriens were arrested at the Beninese oil terminal of Sèmè-Kpodji on June 5. This new incident occurs as Niger, a landlocked country, is supposed to begin exporting its oil via a brand new pipeline which passes through Benin.
